This year, the first Sunday of April is celebrated as ‘Palm Sunday’ a
day where we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. You
can find this in Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-40 and
John 12:12-19. Check it out!
The story speaks of Jesus entering Jerusalem riding on a donkey.
Crowds surrounded Jesus, waving leaves in celebration. Leaves and
coats were readily thrown to the ground to make a pathway for
Jesus. The crowds shouted Hosanna! – What a magnificent scene!
But why did they shout Hosanna?
‘Hosanna’ is a phrase used to celebrate and praise God. It means
‘Salvation has come’. The crowds had glimpsed their King, Jesus, the
one who saves, the one who conquers.
